Bachelor Of Nutrition And Dietetics

A three year B.Sc Degree Course with Chemistry, Zoology, Nutrition and Dietetics. As its core subjects, this course is specially formulated to facilitate students looking for careers in the Food Industries Hotel, Restaurants and Hospitals. The Entrepreneurship Development Programme has been added to enable students to start ventures of their own.


Personal qualities

A good dietitian or nutritionist should have an interest in food and food preparation. Good communication skills to communicate with people individually and in groups and good writing skills for producing reports leaflets etc. are essential. One should have patience and genuine concern for fellow beings. They should also have planning and admin istrative skills and organizational ability. Dietitians need to be fit and healthy and able to work as a team member.

  Eligibility

The candidate should have passed

 
Std. 12/PU/ISC/ ‘A' Level or equivalent examination and should have taken at least two of the science subjects.
  Scope and Prospects

Dieticians in hospitals and nursing

homes
 

Food and service managers in food

service institutions, airline, catering, star hotels and other catering agencies.
 

Resource person to conduct nutrition

programmes in villages.
 

Nutrition counselor in Non

Governmental Organizations (NGOs) research scientist in research and development centre like National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Indian Dietetic Association (IDA) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
 

On completion of the Degree course,
